Photos - 2003 - Wales and England in April - Nottingham Castle

After our huge success out at Sherwood Forest in the morning where we went along expecting a completely disappointing experience only to be pleasantly surprised by how well the area was run and the impressiveness of the big oak tree they had on display we decided to try our luck with Nottingham Castle. The original castle was wood and was destroyed. The subsequent castle was destroyed in riots I think and the current building is more of a manor home than a castle but is still called Nottingham Castle as it resides in the original castle walls. The Castles hosts a museum and art gallery. They catered for children really well and Yvette and I were immensely impressed by pretty much everything to do with the place. I dread to think what it is like in the middle of the tourist season but it was well worth the time to visit in our opinion. They also had a cafe and our lunches were quite good too.
