With the World Solar Challenge entry Sungroper well underway we flew to Darwin to do a test drive of the route down to Adelaide as nobody in the team had driven the road before. We made it a bit of a holiday and did all the touristy things as they wouldn't really be practical during the race. We drove the route exactly one year before the race in 2001. Peter, Nikola and Neil Lewis accompanied me on the trip.
